Import a bank statement

Bring in transactions from a file your bank gives you.

Updated 3 November 2026 · Plain 0.110.0

  1. Download a statement from your internet banking. Plain reads OFX, QFX and QIF files from any bank, and CSV files from any bank after you match the columns once.
  2. In Plain, go to Banking → More options → Import statement.
  3. Choose the bank account and the file. Plain recognises the layout and shows a preview.
  4. If Plain asks, match the columns (date, description, amount, or debit and credit) and select Use these columns.
  5. Check the preview and select Import transactions.
Import a statement file.

Duplicates are skipped. If you import overlapping statements, Plain recognises lines it already has (using the bank's transaction ID where the file includes one) and skips them. Importing the same file twice does nothing.
